Alter egos of the same animal, on a regular day, Cringer is the somewhat lazy and usually hungry cat friend of the Prince. Prince Adam found his companion when he was younger and was off exploring in the jungle.

There was a kitten beng attacked by a larger sabre cat. Adam took it with him to get it fixed by Man at Arms and once it became well it was his pet. Cringer got Prince Adam teased quite soundly by Teela and other because the kitten was so afraid of everything.

The Sorceress of Grayskull intervened and spoke with Prince Adam. She  told Adam that Cringer was embarrassing to him now but that one day he woulde be very useful.

One day accidentally  Cringer saw Prince Adam change into He man and when the prince tried to reassure Cringer he gestured toward him with his sword. When he did so, cringer grew to about two times his normal size.. He became deepr voiced and had longer fangs, and was unafraid, but instead a warrior like creature who was known as Battle Cat.

Battle Cat is primarily a mount for He Man, but also attends to business, getting into the fight when he has to..He’s a fairly hot commodity on the net right now, with Battle Cat Statues, battle cat figurines, and the older Battle Cat original figures going for between 20 and 75 dollars, depending on where you look.
